As I've mentioned before, my extended family on both sides love to host and cook. I often bring a bottle or two of their favorite wine for a lovely holiday meal. This Easter, I came up with a unique and original presentation that I wanted to share with all of you. I call it the bunny wrap!
Getting Started:
To get started, this is a standard type apron with two simple front pockets and a loop around the neck with adjustable sliders. I would look for an apron in spring colors or featuring an Easter print.
Step 1:
Start by flipping it over so the pockets are face down on your surface. Next fold the chest covering part of the apron towards you leaving slight shoulders on either side (photo 3).
Step 2:
Place the bottle to be gifted in the center of the part you just folded down and line up the bottom with the edge of the neckline of the apron. I'm using a bottle of red wine here, but you could use any spirit or a gourmet bottle of olive oil.
Tighten down the neck loop of the apron so it touches the bottle and then wrap the extra neck tie of the apron around the bottle.
Step 3:
Fold the very bottom of the apron up a few inches so that once the bottom edge is folded all the way to the top of the bottle, just the neck of the bottom is sticking out. This may take a couple tries to get right depending on the length of the apron you are using.
Once the bottom of the apron is folded up flush with the top edge, hold the apron touching the center of the bottle secure with one hand and with the other hand pull the two bottom corners up to start creating the bunny ears.
Depending on the size and bulkiness of the apron you are using, you may need to tuck some of the apron in the fold to keep it neat.
Step 4:
Next, gently twist and roll the waist straps and bring both corners up to the top of the bottle.
Step 5:
From here, you are going to take the top right apron strap, pull it down and wrap it behind the neck of the bottle. Repeat this step with the left apron strap. Then you'll want to tie them down on the neck of the bottle. This view is actually going to be the back of the bunny.
Step 6:
Time to finish your bunny! Flip the bottle over and tie a bow with the straps. Stand the bottle back up, fluff out the bunny ears and you should be good to go!
In this example, the apron front pocket ended up about half way up the bottle which I thought was cute and gives a hint to the hostess that it's actually an apron wrapping the bottle. You could even tuck in some complementary items like a pretty wine topper.
Hopefully these steps are clear, but you can DM us on Instagram or send an email if you have any questions. Would love to know if you give this a try and how it went.
Happy, hoppy, hostess gifting!
